This knife features a forged 52100 flat ground drop point blade with an ivory Micarta handle. Rabbetted tang construction with SS Corby bolt and SS thong tube. 3-7/8” blade length, 8-1/8” overall length. Blade is 1” high at dropped edge, and 3/16” thick at the spine. Hand rubbed to 600 grit.

I made this knife as sort of a “chore-boy” model. It’s just got an all around useful type of profile, for cutting whatever gets in your way out there. It would whittle, cut food, cut rope, cut flowers for your sweetie etc., equally well. It’s slim and ergonomic, compact and discreet. The steel has been triple quenched, double tempered, then soft back drawn for maximum performance.

This would also be a nice knife for a lady. The grip fits a smaller hand nicely and overall it’s lightweight.

$165 U.S. Asking Price. SOLD.

Price includes Priority Mail shipping to 50 states. I will ship around the world; I just ask that in this case the buyer pay the added shipping costs. Included in price as well is a molded pouch type sheath made of premium veg-tanned 7-9 oz. horse leather. Specify RH or LH sheath, natural, classic brown, or black finish.

I make knives to the best of my ability and knowledge. I research to find the best materials and methods to use, in order to provide the very best product, in terms of value, durability, performance, and aesthetics. Should you find a knife you have bought from me to be lacking in any of these respects, you may ship it back to me at my expense for a full money-back return.

Should a knife purchased from me fail in materials or workmanship, please ship it back to me at my own expense for your money back in full, or repairs at no cost. It’s your choice.
I will sharpen any of my knives at no cost; however I do ask that you pay for shipping costs for this service.

I am always pleased to hear from any of my customers, past, repeat, potential, or otherwise. Please go to my web site, see "Contact Me" and give me a call. If you have any questions regarding these policies, I'd like to hear them.

Also, if this knife or any other I have made that you have seen looks close to something you would like, or if you would like to talk about an entirely different knife design altogether, please contact me, I do custom orders as well and always enjoy talking about knife designs, whether or not we actually end up doing business.

That is a very good looking knife. Your work is very clean and inspiritional and I always enjoy seeing it. If I had the funds to spare it would have a home by now :)

That is really nice Salem.

I like everything about it. What grit do you take the ivory white micarta too? Is ie easy to keep clean? Do you put a finish on it?

Thanks

Matt

Matt, I hand sand white micarta to 600 grit and then buff with white rouge. If I've missed any smaller scratches, they show up glaringly as even the slightly dirty rouge sticks in them. I re-sand as necessary, then re-buff until any smudging or excess dope rubs right off with a little WD40 and a paper towel. At this point the surface is glossy and while it will smudge, it'll wipe right off again.

I love/hate this stuff. It's more time consuming to finish than any other type of synthetic I'm aware of, although orange G10 comes close. There also can be tiny inclusions in this stuff, like a little dark fleck that just won't sand out. Some of them will, but some are just there to stay. Kind of reminds me of vanilla bean ice cream but a lot less enjoyable.

Thanks Salem,

I have some white micarta sitting in my drawer think this is just the kick in the bum I need to try it out (that and I have 5 blades due back from heat treat any day now!)

Cheers

Matt

Hi Salem

Ivory micarta and 52100 my favorites, so I'll take it.

Thanks

There are a lot of really great knives offered in this forum, by many very talented knife makers but I have to say Salem Straub, you & Chuck Gedraitis, are my two favorite knife stylist. Your knives are simply the most elegant & refined on a regular basis. I bow to the artist in you both. Someday I'll have at least one knife from each of you. Got to sell more of my own "art" first. Looking forward...
Ray

What a thoughtful and generous compliment, Ray. Chuck is good company to be in. I look forward to the day that you have all the knives you could wish for.
