Ban, any special properties to the steel in the Drop Point ? I'm not familiar with this steel.
How thinly did you grind the blade; slicer type, or leaving a bit more steel for 'tough utility' ?

CPM-s35vn is a high quality stainless steel. It is ground fairly thin for slicing but still has enough meat behind the edge for tougher utilitarian tasks.

That drop point rocks! S35V, Less than 7" OAL, Convex edge! Need to make a few more of these!

I was wanting the Drop Point but having trouble justifying more spending on knives, so i was 'thinking' about it.
Thinking even as i ventured out into a high wind swirling snow and fog storm this morning. But soon i got caught up in finding a whitetail, which i did, a nice mature buck. I dressed it out with a Traditional Japanese Hunter which Ban had kindly tuned up for me, recreating the tip i had broken off and sharpening the blade in his special way. This knife with Ban's edge literally parted the tissues as if by magic, as no force whatsoever was needed, not even for going through the hide where it's thick & tough like on the neck. I've used a lot of different fine custom Hunters with sharp blades but this Ban edge seems to be a level of sharpness above all the others.
I was so impressed the decision to buy this Drop Point went from 'thinking' to 'must have'.
So i just got in and of course it's 'gone' by now. But at least it's going to my friend Ove who is a serious Ban Fan.
Ban really does create some of the sharpest edges of any maker in any price range anywhere.
