I like the looks of this one alot better than the original. Can't wait to get a plain edge version.

What did those knuckleheads do to my opening hole?!?!? Please tell me that this is just some kind of prototype thing, and the real deal will have the hole.

I already have plenty of Axisuses and plenty of knives with opening holes (although you can never have too many Spydies). The reason I'd buy this one is for the combination of the two features. No hole, no sale.

I was told, by Benchmade, that the Griptilian (Mel Pardue design ~ Modified Sheepsfoot) aka BM550 still has a hole in the blade.

The pic above is the "new" Griptilian with drop point style blade and no thumb hole (with thumbstud). . .

I'm told that both come with 440C blade steel.

im with jason,shmacky,and toast.

thanks,but no thanks.
put the round hole in it,i might reconsider.

I love my 550. It's been one of my EDC's since I got it over a month ago.
This new version also looks great...to tell the truth, as far as appearance it looks better. But my 550 has proven to be a real workhorse, and I do love the hole/axis lock combination. I find the 440C steel in this one is excellent and in fact I prefer it to Benchmade's ATS-34 or 154-CM.
