This is my first knife posted here for the new year. I've been very busy with commissions so I'm only getting to post every once in a while. I'm not sure what to call this one, it could pass for a field knife or as a practical tactical. Either way, I think it's pretty darn cool. A bit edgy looking, but still practical and classy.

This buckeye was one of the more unique pieces I've seen. Very bold swirling figure in silver, grey, and black streaks. Chatoyance is so strong that it was actually messing with the focus on my camera.

4.75" Blade, 10" OAL, .160" Thick
CTS-XHP @ 60RC
Buckeye Burl stabilized by K&G
Tapered tang and comfortable contoured handle

SOLD

I went ahead and edited in the rest of the info. The forum software was giving me fits this morning. :/

edit: Oh, and the edge I put on is a "photo edge", about 90% of the way to sharp. That's why you can see part of the edge in the last photo. I don't do the final edge until the knife is pretty much done being handled.

A little too long for my use these days but what a gorgeous knife! Another beauty Ian. Russ

Thanks for the support Russ, much appreciated.

I really like this one, has a strong personality imo. It's definitely towards the larger end of the scale for EDC, but I think it would still carry quite nicely. Great feel in hand.

Can't see this lasting too long, very nice work at a very reasonable price.

Killer blade shape and grinds on this one!

Someone needs to buy this knife. You have a top quality stainless steel that went to a reputable heat treat and Ian takes care of his stuff. I have one of his knives and the fit and finish is spot on. I also spoke to two members who have his work and they echoed my sentiments. This is a bargain! Hell, I may end up with it if someone doesn't see the light soon... Russ

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

I just wanted to add, owing to the slim blade, I did a variable grind and made sure there was a bit of added strength at the tip without sacrificing usability. Very happy with how the grind came out.

If this thing doesn't move soon I'm gonna have to start posting close ups. :P

Thanks Eric!

Just FYI Everyone, the logo etch does not look anywhere near as terrible as it does in that photo. It's more of just a satin silver color. I think the lighting somehow made it into a fuzzy and ugly negative area. The etched area is pretty non-reflective, so maybe it just didn't register on the photo.

The scales are an almost metallic looking silver in real life, but I'm having a heck of a time trying to get a decent photo of them.

I thought maybe I need to bait the hook a bit more.

I just got a large cow side, so I'm swimming in leather (for my consumption rate at least). I'll do $200 shipped with your choice of basic sheath. My basic is: single row stitching, and no special hardware required, such as a fancy titanium clip, locking hardware, that sort of thing. I still put the same care and quality of materials into my basic sheaths. The below are all smaller sheaths I did for a recent run of EDC's, but my larger ones are similar in construction.

I use vegetable tanned leather and saddle-stitch by hand, and use high quality finishes.

My molded sheaths are done using vacuum, which gives a nicely formed and snug fit with medium to medium-light retention. The vacuum molding also preserves the look of the leather grain nicely. I gently harden the leather so it is not brittle, but remains springy, so the retention will generally weather fairly well. Normally you can turn the sheath upside down with the knife in it and shake it gently, and it will be secure. This is not true on all knives, but most.

I use a custom shaped spacer block made for each individual knife, to try and give the knife the cleanest entry and exit, while still keeping a clean look to the mold.

This is a molded backpocket sheath I did for forum member mycough (he posted above)

This is a pocket sleeve I did for another BF member.

These two are not stitched yet in this photo, but you get the idea. These are my "standard" horizontal/vertical design.

This is the one pictured on the right in the above photo, showing after stitching and smoothing out the stitch lines.
