I am also a Newbie, and I was reading citytransplant's post about the OT drop point, I began to wonder, I came into some knifes a few years ago mostly schrades and Uncle Henry's, I have several SharpFingers, both Oldtimers and Uncle Henry's Wolverine, but is this what is called a drop point?, it is a UH 154 Badger, What is the Schrade counterpart? any other information on this model one would care to share, Thanks, this is a great forum, I have been reading it for sometime, came into some knifes a few years ago and never had the time to do any research, and now (although I shouldn't) I am taking some time, it is kind of addicting, Thanks Doc

The 154OT "Drop Point Hunter" was the Old Timer line equivalent to the 154UH. Basically the same knife with sawcut Delrin handles and Old Timer shield instead of the Staglon handles and Uncle Henry shield.

This pattern was produced from 1976 through 1988, thirteen years, and gave rise to yet a third pattern, the 158OT "Guthook Skinner" in 1988. The 158 pattern differed from the 154 only with the addition of a sharpened hook on the upper spine near the tip with a sharpened rear facing slot. The hook was intended for opening the abdominal cavities of game animals without puncturing the viscera. Evidently this pattern was more sucessful than the 154 upon which it was based, because the 154OT was discontinued after the year the 158 was introduced, and the 158OT continued in production along with the Sharpfinger until 2004.

Thanks Michael, The Schrade drop point hunter is an attractive knife, I think I like the look of the handle better than the UH, although On the SharpFinger I like the "Bone" effect, Thanks again, ( a lot to remember) Doc.
