My Pirate Jack falls shut since it's on bearings and the blade weighs about a pound, it also likes to put little cuts in my finger because of that action.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

Exactly why I don't like drop-shut action on my frame and liner locks. I prefer to shake those shut.Great point about the button locks. I have a few knives that drop shut and I have cut the top of my thumb several times just closing the knife. One is a Norseman and the other is my Shirogorov. You really need to be careful when closing these two as they are like guillotines.

Still have the Skaha? I’ve been curious to try one out but can’t seem to find any. I just missed one on here the other dayI made the mistake of getting a Skaha, and I'm not totally hooked on drop shut action. I have a few others, the ZT 0562CF, the Quartermaster Mr Roper Eviction (Jared West is scum, but WE makes a good friggin knife), and the Stedemon BP02. Of course there's axis locks that free swinging, but that's different. Are there other drop shutty folders and flippers for less than customs?
Was it the one that came up for $115? That's the one I bought, saw it and couldn't claim it fast enough.Still have the Skaha? I’ve been curious to try one out but can’t seem to find any. I just missed one on here the other day
If it was lefty, I'd already have one. I might even have 2. Sadly I'm kinda hard pressed on knives over around $150 to consider anything without a lefty clip.Another vote for the Freeman 451. It's unreal how smooth this knife is. And it looks really good, too IMO. I love mine. It's one knife I'll never let go of.

That's understandable. Too bad he doesn't make a lefty version. It keeps a lot of people from enjoying this knife. If it was lefty, I'd already have one. I might even have 2. Sadly I'm kinda hard pressed on knives over around $150 to consider anything without a lefty clip.
I just sent the maker an email asking about the possibility of making a scale with a lefty clip. If nothing else, it puts one more in the pile of people who have expressed interest in a lefty version, and could be the teetering point to push him into doing it... or worst case scenario I only wasted like 2 minutes. That's understandable. I think there is a fine line between too drop shutty and drop shut. IMO, I don't like knife that drop shut and bounce. I love the feeling of knife that drop shut and stay shut, it feels to me more solid and I think it is hard to make a knife drop shut but does not bounce.
Also, the flipper tab position is important. It should be in a position where it will drop on my finger when I unlock the knife so the blade won't bite me but it has to give enough space for the detent ball to sit on the blade so when I take my finger out, the knife drop shut. Oh, and it should not be too much of a pocket pecker.
Just my 2cents
I have an X1 Microflip and it's a pretty great mini flipper. Been waiting to snatch up an X5 for a while if I can't get one for a good price, but the only times any come up is when I have no money. How do the Hogue button locks fare? Particularly the X5's? Freeman gets seemingly more exposure than Hogue it seems.
The 4in Wharnie keeps doing a Siren song whenever I see one...I have an X1 Microflip and it's a pretty great mini flipper. Been waiting to snatch up an X5 for a while if I can't get one for a good price, but the only times any come up is when I have no money.
