Drop Skinner - Thoughts?

First post just to comment on this. I like it, I skin about 20 caribou per year and have done a few muskox. Currently I use a longer blade but, once I start making some knives, that's a profile similar to what I'll be using.

Very cool T. I had a little ulu influence in mind when I was messing with the design. I hope you'll post pics of yours when you get to it.

I don’t love the sharp straight edge at the front of the scales. I’d rather have something more egg shaped at the front on something like this for comfort, and I think it might flow more with the blade to round those scales a bit at the front. Otherwise

I have to agree. Going forward I'm thinking either brass or nickel silver bolsters, smoothed for comfort.
There is a slight rounding as is, but it's not enough.

+1 about rounding the front of the scales.
That wood on the handle is amazing! Beautiful and very functional knife.

My hunter style is evolving thanks to great suggestions from folks here. This is the skinner version, the first one. Straightened out the handle and reshaped a bit.

Thoughts?

I make a similar drop point with a hidden tang. I like yours better
Looks nice to me
I mainly hunt for venison if anything and I prefer a 2.75-3.5" blade myself. I fish more often and usually carry the same knife

Thanks Randy. That oak is pretty amazing. I've processed several boxes, and the variation is pretty wild.
Anything from dark to light to spalted.
This piece from a batch I got back from K&G yesterday blows my mind! :)
