Since I've been in to knives, I've always been charmed with dropped edge knives.
So I made one :)
It was a fun project to do.

The steel is 1/8" 'niolux'; a 'new' high tech German stainless steel containing niobium. It has very small grain, and can be sharpend very sharp.

It has a two tone finnish; gritt 400/2500. I'm very pleased how that came out.
The handle is: pink ivory, blackwood and ivory. All hand pollished with micro mesh up to gritt 12.000. Now that is smooth :D

The sheath will follow.

So what do you think?

Looks great, I like the handle choice. Pink ivory doesn't get used enough on knife handles. It's hard, vibrant, and takes an amazing polish (as you know). I looks good paired with the blackwood like that.

It would be cool to see a matching knife in inverted handle materials: mostly blackwood with pink ivory stripe.

Wow, I think that looks great! I love the contrast in the handle. The two grit polish is very nice too.

I've never used or even heard of the steel, do you have any specs on it?

That is beautiful! I'll second Phillip's idea, a second with opposite handle materials would make an awesome pair.

Thnx.
The handle shape is purely aesthetic. I wanted a 'friendly looking' knife for around the house. I think it looks good like this.
All I know about that steel is that is is develloped for the kitchen knife industry, and becouse it has niobium it has small grain and takes a very sharp edge.
It is quite new, as far as I know only one dealer sells it to private persons. He is in in Germany.
The steel gets used more and more in Europe.
The hardening specs are the same as 440B
