Drowned RATs

I have never had a problem with 1095 in wet environments. Clean and lube and you're fine. Mac

Thanks. I have a big bottle of mineral oil for pivots just in case I ever need to eat with one of my knives. Just to make sure after oiling a blade should the excess be wiped off or should it be left thick?

I was in the same boat regarding which knife to buy. I got the RC - 4 half serrated and it works like a charm. Had it while fishing the other day and used it to cut up some fish / line and no problem with any sort of rusting.

I know this is a RAT forum, but I love the Mora's too. In my opinion there is no better "cheap" knife out there. I all ways have a couple of Mora's in my pack for the grunt work when I don't want to FUP one of my nice knives.

 no problem....
For me though , I never could swing a mora type knife. I know alot of folks like'em but I'll pass on 'em :D

My RC-4 is uncoated and honestly I rarely ever oil it. I use it for lots of boat work and such. Just try to keep it clean and dry it before going to bed. If the kydex is wet, try not to leave the knife in the sheath wet overnight. Invert the sheath and leave the knife out as the sheath dries. Thats it. In marine environments, rust is more of an issue even if it doesn't get wet, there is enough salt and humidity in the air to work its magic. Better to keep it oiled. It really isn't something that you should worry over. You actually have to do the same maintenance on stainless steels in marine environments. I had my Buck diamondback go all pitty in Dubai after two days.

While on the subject of maintenance what's the best kind of cloth for wiping a blade down...or does it matter at all? RATs are sharpened at approximately 20 degrees each side right?
