Drunken knife ordering?

I put up a wiskey induced bid on e-bay for a sword that looked interesting. Thought for sure someone would bid higher than $1,500 on it. Woke up the next morning to the "Congratulations you won.. notice"

AHH Sh*T was the nicest things I said.

Just one of the reasons I quit drinking!

Booze certainly makes me more prone to saying "yeah, let's go for it" when browsing online knife stores, you bet.

Thanks Stelth,

So I guess I get the "Biggest Bonehead" award on this one.

I have only had a fraction of the feeling you experienced when you realized you "won" the sword. So, did you actually pay for it? Do you still have it? Please elaborate.

Definitely has happened which is why I'm very thankful that I can't buy firearms as easily online.

I only did this once, it was one of those Glock knives...still have it today. After the sword-story it's definitely peanuts. :D

Yeah, I followed through with the purchase. I may have been under the influence, but I still made a commitment. It's actually a really sweet sword. Japanese wartime Nihonto made with steel from the heavy guns on the battleship Mikasa. I wasn't too bombed, in that I did some research before I placed the bid. The snag was that the seller flagged it as having some flaws near the tip. I was bleary eyed enough to not look them over REALLY closely. Just recently I ran a post on a Japanese sword site and got some more complete info on the flaws. Not as bad as they first seemed. I will probably be able to sell it for more than the purchase price.............once the damn economy turns around.

I was working late last night when I saw this post. Brought it all back to me and gave me a good laugh. Luckily the wife never found out the full details on this debacle.

I'm glad that it's actually worth something. I was picturing some over-priced fantasy LOTR or conan the barbarian sword. Did the pit of your stomach seem to drop to your shoes when you found out you won? Thanks for sharing the details.

I've done it. Damn it.
They need a breathlyzer on this dang internet machine thingy.

lmao that is how I manage to get all my best things without talking myself out of it.

Sounds like cutting up your credit card would have been easier. ;)

90% of my knife ordering takes place while intoxicated. I don't seem to buy dumb stuff, just pull the trigger on things I have wanted for a while.

just last week i ordered a Kershaw Whirlwind when i nursing quite the hangover. i needed folder for the boat that i wouldn't be too broken hearted if it went overboard. 40 bucks later i'm happy

I am a member of this club...In fact I will have a drink tonight to celebrate my next knife purchase!

Wow I'm actually quite comforted knowing I am not the only one guilty of doing this!

Strider SnG definitely had some Rye and Ginger support when I ordered it.
