Looking into getting a custom Gentleman Folder model. I have seen some pop up on BladeHQ, wondering if anyone has any good or bad experiences with DSK Tactical knives in general. The maker is a former Marine infantry and was mentored by Greg Medford, may be an up an comer....

While a may be a little biased, these knives are awesome! :) You can definitely tell the Medford influence, as these are thick and overbuilt. Dan at DSK puts his own spin and flare on his knives and we are excited to be carrying them. We are out of the ones we got in, but we have another order in with Dan for some more great knives from a great maker.

Check them out here--> DSK Tactical Knives

While I like the designs and would love to have one (if they were priced about 75% cheaper), those are about as gentlemanly as a Strider or Emerson custom. A 4 inch blade with a .27" thick blade stock as a "gentleman's folder?!" Not sure what the marketing team was thinking on that one.

To me, a gentleman's folder has a smallish blade generally around 3 inches or less, very thin blade stock, and a handle made of some type of natural material or maybe carbon fiber. In rare cases a full Ti handle might qualify, but only if it has very clean lines - like a small Sebenza. But that's borderline at best.

Edit: It's 12 oz! There's no way you could carry that thing in pants thinner than work jeans.

I just placed an order with Dan for one his knives and I only have good things to say about working with him so far. Check him out on Instagram if you haven't.

Buying one of his knives at Bladehq was also a no brainer in my book. Thank you Bladehq for putting him on my radar!

I just paid for my custom with him a couple days ago, should take about 3 months and I can't wait! As for it being called a gentleman's folder, I assume it was a joke which I got pretty quick after looking at the specs.

I can add that I have 2 DSK and a 3rd on its way if you are looking for an Extreme overbuilt knife than Dan (DSK) is who you want making it! As an owner of Crusader Forge, Medford, Strider and have had Emerson Customs, My favorite knives to date are my DSK Kickstand, and GF1, Dan is an awesome maker to work with, he captures exactly what you want and has constant communication, and Pics to make sure you are in on each part of the process!!! you wont be disappointed!

While I haven't handled a DSK yet, I love the look & philosophy of them and have a custom Kickstand on the way. Dan has been amazing to work with during my build. Keeping in close contact through the design/build process and adjusting all possible options to my exact wishes. I can tell that Dan loves knives as much or more than I do and wants his customers to love the end results. Highly recommended, I'll post again after I receive my custom.

I have to agree with most folks here. I have a GF on order with Dan. He has been willing to answer any and all questions I have had and been great to deal with. I cannot wait for my knife to arrive.

Update...just received my Kickstand and it's awesome. The build is perfect and Dan delivered as promised. This thing is a tank, here's proof....

I was considering between a Medford Marauder and the DSK GF-1. After chatting with Dan via email I'm going with a custom GF-1. His customer service and communication is superb. Now the wait will be the most painful part lol.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but does anyone know if the warranty follows the knife or if it's only for the initial purchaser? TIA (Looked at the site and it reads like only the original buyer has warranty with them?)

I read the site and came to the opposite conclusion.

This sentence led me to believe that the knife is covered not just for the original purchaser.

"All products are warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship
for the life of the item."

At the bottom of page in the link below they have their contact options through various means. May want to go straight to the source for a concrete answer.

Good luck!
