I've handled a nmsfno and if I had to choose between it and a choiless boss jack, I'd go with the boss jack. If I had the money I'd buy a dssf just to have it.
Why is it better? the same reason why the basic 11 could be said to be better than a bwm. They're both about the same size, but one is smaller - Yet more blade heavy. The handle is smaller, the blade is less tall, it's a more compact knife and weighs less.
Yet it feels better in the hand because it's more blade heavy. This can be an issue when you get into the larger sizes, like the khukuri's. Both of those are *so* heavy that they get to where they can wear your forearm down really fast from use. With the smaller sizes though, If you can decrease weight and height but shift the weight forward - chances are it's going to feel better in the hand. Equally capable but smaller = a feeling of being more capable for what it is.
