Du8dp...

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep Ebay in mind. It is a beauty, I was just thinking about selling to get funds for another rifle. I got rid of most of my knives (Case, Schrade, and Queen), and I have this one, and a set of "Mammoth Ivory" handled knives that Sears sold years ago. I can't find any info on the Sears set, but they are high quality folders that were produced in Japan. I think the set was around $150 new. They are "scrimshawed" with different whales on each knife.

I'd like to see those knives too. Get that new camera in action Treeman. :D

Maybe the "DP" = "duck pond":D

Chuck

Well, the "DP" designation in this instance certainly did not mean "Drop Point" as it usually did, with the contract specifying the clip point blade seen on the example... Some Schrade employees have admitted in the past that many of the alpha/numeric designations confused even them, such as the "LB-7ND" found. Until an actual internal memo was uncovered stating that it meant "No Display", no one had a clue. "LB-7NS" meant nickle silver bolsters, rather than the standard brass (we all have one of those, right?). My example is a Harley Davidson SFO.

...am I missing the point here..I have both those above sets and do not recall DP on either....and I also have the DP's which in Schrade parlance does stand for Drop Point.Hoo Roo

The purchase order uses the word "Product" with a capital letter several times, so I guess the little bugger could be a "Duck Product." ???

Anybody have any info on the above "Whale Set" from Sears? I think they were sold in the early 80's...

Still no info on the Mammoth Ivory knife set? Somebody out there had to see this set in the past...

I found a set of 3 whale scrims from 1990-91 but not the same as these.
I'll keep searching

They are not Schrade, they are made in Japan, but nice quality. I'm just trying to find any info on them. Thanks.

They could be Parker contract knives. He had a lot of stuff made for him in Japan. Perhaps check with the BR Levine forum and post your pictures there. Sears did not put many of their special edition knives in catalogs, but sold them in their retail stores only, so Sears catalogs are not a likely source for information on these.
