Dual head hollow grinders

I know Ray , he was making knives when i was just getting started in the late 70's. Last I heard he was living the good life in FL

Ray made SMALL knives. I make BIG swords. Yes the 2 machine thing works, but without a bunch of modifications it doenst work fast.

typically if all stock removal we grind about a pound of material off of EACH blade

Ray lists MD for summer, FL for winter. I haven't seen him in more than 20 years, so I don't know what he does nowadays. Just thought he might be an info source.

Good luck with your equipment search.

I saw Ray at a table at the Chesapeake Knife show this past December. Kerry, if you call Marvin Shipley I'd bet he could put you in touch with Ray. He used to make sheaths for him.

Actually I'm pretty sure Buck owns a double Bader II version.

I'll check with Ted Merchant and get Ray's info, I havent touched base with him for a long time and he actually runs that show.

It used to be said that Ray never used the same belt twice. If he changed belt grits he never put that same belt back on his grinder. He said it wasnt true BUT there was always a box of ALMOST new belts under his table for sale! He was a great resource for 2*27 belts!
