Dual thumb stud?

I am thinking about ading a dual thumb stud to my small wood inlay Sebenza, and maybe my large Tanto. I understand that this service is offered for $30.00 through CRK. I was wondering if they make an alteration to the lock side to accomodate the thumb when this is done post production. I noticed that Gary's new Sebenza had a groove(correct term?) machined into the left side below the left side stud.

I would appreciate any opinions on this subject, especially from those that have had this done. Can I expect a long turn around time? Is this modification worthwhile?

Joe,

Yes, they do put a cutout on the lock bar to allow access to the stud when they do the alteration, even post production.

Only the Company can tell you the turn around time, as I am sure it depends on the current demands on their time.

I think the dual studs are great, they should be standard issue. Well worth the cost and the time away from home.

Hey Joe,

I got one of the dual thumbs studs put on my large sebbie. There is a groove cut next to the right side (lock side) stud for your thumb. I ordered mine prior to getting my knife and I'm glad I did. Adds to the looks of this already great looking knife, as well as allowing useage of your left hand. I say this is a modification to get on any of your sebenza's.

I don't know, the dual thumbstud is great, but the tiny ramp they make on the lock bar only creates a dull form of serrations out of the edge, when I was whittling the other day it felt sharp there after a bit of working with the knife, took a while to figure out where the sharpness came from and then discovered it was where the little ramp was ground down. If it wasn't ground I think you could still access the thumbstud.
