Hello all,
Some of you may have missed the post regarding my brother in law being injured in Iraq while on his first mission for the 82nd Airborne. Here is that post.

the basics of the post are that he was on his way into Baghdad when a box filled with a 105mm mortar round with a remote detonator in it exploded when the humvee my brother in law was in drove near it.
A friend of my bro was killed and two others were injured. My bro sustained a broken arm and a large leg wound from shrapnel. He was transported to Germany where he was patched up and sent home.
My bro's knife, a strider fixed blade, which I had purchased for him so he could have the best blade in the company, was destroyed along with the rest of his vest which took a load of shrapnel and most likely saved his life.
John is recovering back in NC and is in semi good spirits. He is very bummed about his friend who was killed and about the friend who had to have his foot removed two days ago due to infection from a shrapnel wound. John was also bummed about losing the knife I had given him.
Anyways, I was at the Blade Show West where I contacted Duane at the Strider booth. I gave him a rundown of what had occured and he told me to thank John and wish him and his friends the best. Duane told me to have John call him so he could get him another knife to make up for the one he lost.
Yesterday Duane and I emailed each other. I asked Duane if he would call John at home and just say hello. Duane did this and it made my brother in law feel appreciated by others outside the family.
I wanted to thank Duane on the forums because as I told him in private email, I am very touched by his gesture towards my brother in law and towards our soldiers.
I will keep Duane and Strider knives in my heart for a long time. Oh yes, I will be adding at least two strider knives to my collection asap as I know they back up their products 100%, and care about those who buy and use them.
Thanks Duane.
And thanks to all for your time.
Mike
