Brown Box was over my fence late yesterday. My dog even pee'd on it.

Its Heavier than I thought it would be , cause Ive read lot'a people saying when they got their's they thought it was small and lighter than they thought.

It has a heavier snap and weight forward than my 9. Should make a nice camp tool. I like it

Next, etching and stripping. I dont want it to turn out like my 9 and not able to strip it cause "the paint wear looks cool"

Nice! I got a BK 9 to go with the BK 4 so they can complement each other, aka in case one gets forgotten when being packed and such.

Congrats - the BK4 is one heck of a tool that will instantly become a favorite. After the learning curve, it becomes a very capable blade design.

I'm supposed to be singing the praises of the Bk4 but you already know that you bought one. All I can think about now is Grouse,Pheasant, Quail, Woodcock, Oh my what a stunning Hund!!!!

Born ready to hunt  good looking dog and pups :) oh yea the the knives too :D don't strip your atomic 9

Congrats man, the 4 is a hell of a good blade. Very versatile tool indeed.

Car battery charger, DC, set on 10 amps for etching. For blackening after etch, AC with a Colman Lantern charger wall plug - 12v 400 mil amp AC output, 110volt input. I used salt water and Q-tips since its a small etch job

I notice my BK4 has kind of a blunt edge and isnt very sharp from the factory. Im gonna have to sharpen it better, convex it alittle.
I've been looking at those rounded stones for the re-curve sharpening
How are you guys sharpening the re-curve of your BK4?.... Wet or Dry sandpaper on a large wood dowel?

I have a lansky round diamond rod that I use.
If I didn't have that, I would just staple/spray adhesive some SiC sandpaper to a wooden dowel.

Nice 4, love mine.
Have any other mods planned?

Plain Jane coated - worn, weathered and seasoned - or stripped and polished ... the Four always looks great.

In a sea of knives that all just vary in material, shape, heat treat and marketing, the BK-4 stands out ... always has.

Congrats on your BK-4.

Awesome stuff. I love my BK4. In fact, I love it so much that I sold the BK9... I know... right?

It's an amazingly versatile tool.

As for sharpening... I have a multi bevel setup on mine. The "belly" that one uses for chopping, I convexed to 17dps on my KO-worksharp. The inside, closer to the handle is sharpened to 15dps with 20dps micro bevel on my sharpmaker using the edges of the triangles.

I figured the inside of the edge is what I use for draw cuts, feather sticks, etc... so a fine edge is nice. The belly is my chopping tool, sona robust convex was the way to go.

I'll probably lightly sand with 400-600 wet or dry, the un-machined flat of the side only where its raw metal just to clean it up. I might wipe it just alittle with hot apple vinegar on a cotton ball as a experiment, just lightly

That's what I'll be fixin to do also

I kinda really like the Kukri bend to it when using it. Before, seeing pictures of it, I thought,'why the crooked handle'

I'm one of the outliers, I don't particularly care for the Ka-Bar 4. I've used one of Ethan's Cinci 4s and it was AMAZEBALLS! It had a very nice weight and balance, but the ka-bar was a tad bit of a let down. Mind you I still have one in my collection that I won't be getting rid of. There have been 2 others in my collection that HAVE been gotten rid of. Although that was the intention of them all along. They came with my Bowie sets.
