Dude!

The little guy is "cute" but I'm partial to the big brother.

Not surprised at all Elliot. They should have done a big yeller cattle knife too, right?

That would have been nice...

My smallest stock knives are 3 1/2" which is small enough imho. I suppose if one wore "slacks" or dress pants there might be a reason for a smaller knife (or for office use)...but since I don't have that concern 3.5" is small enough, even for "in town" carry.

Still, I wouldn't turn my nose up at one and as you may remember, you and I carried on a discussion by PM when I was considering buying one from another member at one time.

Edited To Add:

I made a liar of myself. I forgot that my Buck 303 (Cadet) is 3 5/16" closed, just like the "Dude". I'll go stand in the corner now. :o

Man,those look nice.I like the Case birds eye also, but something ive noticed is almost every one has cracks at the pins. The Schrades dont seem to do that.I guess a better quality delrin?

Ah that 882Y is amazing. Yellows scales, birds eye rivets, matchstrike pull, pointy tip. Great example there. Elliott, you and I think alike. You know what they say, "Bigger is better". Atleast in this case I think so.

I've been hearing that a lot lately. (Not sure if that's good or not. ;))

As to the bigger/better thing, I strongly agree...definitely sometimes. :p

Actually Seals, I have seen quite a few of the Schrades 835Y with a crack on the eye pin too. The birds eye patterns are not too common. I wonder how popular they were during the hey day. These are probably late 60's early 70's. The older Schrade Walden had a horrible plastic of some sort that shrunk badly. I think these are Delrin, but some of the early Delrin had pin crack problems too.

Absolute classics there Hal, thank you for showing us them, that 882Y looks like a real beaut!!

I have two of the Dudes and a Case and Kabar birdseyes and interesting enough the Case and Kabar both have pin cracks and neither of the Schrades do. Both of mine have the nice smooth easy pull that I have always loved Scrades for.
