Dugout Canoe

Nice canoe! You said you made the adtzes...how did you make them? Did you forge them yourself?
 
I've seen this done in South America a lot and they will also put a 'stretcher' accross the gunnel's width to widen the canoe as they go. I 'hacked' on one down there for a few minutes. There is a LOT of work here and you are way cool!! Mike Perrin

No they were just made from a cut and welded piece of pipe. I didnt even heat treat them, they worked well enough that it wasnt necessary. They are kinda ugly actually.
 
This thread reminded me of this video. The lengths people went to, to create crafts to work waterways is impressive. The fact that someone in modern times recreate such crafts is very impressive.

Amazing. That's what I would call woodworking. I respect the guts to start a project like that and patience to really finish it. Great work :thumbup:
