Thanks for all the photos and work review. That is a beautiful Dui Chirra, looks to be super sturdy, like you could chop up a tank with it. After looking at the pictures of yours, my HIKV is really kicking in. I hope to nab a Dui Chirra in the future as well.
Sorry about your thumb, my Tarwar has given me 2 "love bites", er....lessons in blade handling. The first was while wiping of the blade while holding it from the back blunt edge. All was good until I got near the tip - Tarwars do have a point - it got me, not too bad, along my thumb. That one is almost healed now. The second one was much worse and I really should have gone and gotten stitches. I did learn a valuable lesson though. It happened while I was simply wiping BLO into the wood handle. ALWAYS SECURE the scabbard to the hilt/handle to keep it from sliding down on the blade. I didn't and the scabbard moved down, and my pinkie slid right with it along the blade edge. The surprising thing is it didn't hurt, and it still numb all the way past the nail on the outside part. Now I run a strip of leather through the belt loop on the sheath and wrap around the hilt to make sure it does not move. My Indonesian sword's scabbard has a leather snap strap built right in to keep the sword and scabbard from separating. The pic is after 3 days when I removed the bandage, it still won't close. I did get it to stop bleeding which is awesome. Can't imagine what a full on power swing with that thing would do !!! Ow !!
