Dull knife from the factory poll

On a new knife purchase, it arrives dull from the factory. Do you care?

I want it to be usable at a basic level out of the box, it doesn't necessarily even have to be hair shaving sharp. I'm more concerned with the quality of the edge bevels. I don't want an obtuse or lop-sided edge that has to be completely reprofiled on first sharpening.

I can and do fix some ugly stuff, but if it looks like an angry gorilla with an angle grinder did the sharpening that day at the factory I'd probably send it back.

That user provided information about himself, I used it to help them pick the best option.
Ah, so you don't actually care what people have to say or that the information is reflective of reality, just so long as it fits your narrative. Seems like I've seen a few polls like this before recently. Just don't go platinum and start banning people you don't agree with from responding 🤣

Have you ever taken an academic test where you have to choose the best answer? It's like that.

I find it odd how you were able to gather from my post that I don't care about what people have to say. Maybe you're just trying to argue.

Have you thought about putting the knife in a sheath on your belt if you loose them? Or get a Victorinox knife chain and attach your knife with a paracord loop to the chain and the chain to your beltloop? You could buy a bright yellow version ( like a Spyderco Salt) so you see them should they fall out in the brush. I don't know what you do for a profession that you are able to loose 3 knives in one month but that seems excessive.

I would be disappointed with a knife that doesn't have an edge and would likely return it as I expect it to have a usable edge from the start. I can sharpen my knives but I expect that to be after using it not when I first open the box.

I think I'll be OK now, thanks for the suggestions.

The deep carry clip from BM has been a big help. Also, I just spent $370 on a Barrage, which I hope will assist hahaha.

I'm very active. The last knife I lost was from running in the woods. Barrage with normal clip (not deep carry).

I do sharpen my own knives, and have no problem with putting a hair-poppin' edge on them...
But if I get a blade that isn't really sharp out of the box: I view it as a possible quality control issue

What else might they have messed up?
Exactly that.

I'm a bit disappointed in their quality control, can sharpen it myself, but wonder if the reason why it isn't sharp is because of a bad heat treatment. It's the reason why soldiers have crazy inspection standards and electricians need to have all the visible plate screws with the drive slots level and aligned. If they don't it's like signing off that quality might not be job #1.
