Dumb question from a noob

This is the first knife I've ever used a power tool on (second knife ever lol). I used a belt sander on it. Seems I got the tip too hot and it changed colors. Is this going to matter if I send it in to be heat treated?

Before heat treat, no. What steel, how thick is the edge, are you done and ready to send to be heat treated?

1084, 1/4 inch thick. Its a very thick convex blade. I'm not exactly sure what done and ready for heat treat constitutes. All I could think to do before I send it in is drill come holes for pins, but again, super noob here

Ok I think this is ready to go, especially since my other belts havent come in the mail and the tip just caught and ate the only one I had :/
