What is meant when a knife is said to have a left hand stamp.

What is a spine test.

Finally why is a 119 called "Special" when every other knife has a model name?

left hand stamp is wether, looking down on the spine, model stamp is on the left side tang of the blade(acutally etched dont have to be on the tang)

spine test is where the knive is held in a vice and then whacked on the top of the blade(spine) to see if the lock will fail and the blade folds.

I think the "special" is just the name given. Someone may know a particular reason.

And as always, no dumb questions except the one you dont ask

'Special' is its name . I'm not sure why . Al Buck named those models as Chuck was in the Navy from 1958-61 . Someone here may know the answer to this question . DM
