Dumbest advertisement

Oh, my mistake. Tops (Rowen) makes pretty nice knives too, FWIW.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that Rowen is doing ESEE exclusively now. :)

someone said once buy the knife not the story so i read hype for amusement only

Exactly. If a company makes a good knife for a good price I'll buy it even if it has some pretty brain-liquefying advertising type. :o

The Writeup for the Benchmade 730 is just hilarious. Great knife, though.

"Sculpted contours of G10 color purposefully shroud the existence of a much deeper skeleton structure. Top-to-bottom, end-to-end it’s like a canvas of innovation precisely balanced on an AXIS™ of unrivaled function. The tool design effectively uses a thicker spear-point blade shape to cut away any myths of its abilities to get the job done. The Ares™ declares war on utility and possesses the arsenal of performance features to be victorious. "

It is both intellectually bankrupt and juvenile to distill any and all criticism of Cold Steel, even criticism of its bombastic marketing, to little more than, "That Lynn Thompson dude is too fat for spandex."

I didn't criticize it. I just find it absolutely hilarious.

It sure is a good thing no-one's done that in this thread, then, isn't it? ;)

Stop it! You made me look up three big words that time! My brain hurts. :grumpy: :D

Actually, I couldn't agree more. CS's videos are pretty entertaining, and a little educational at times.

As for TOPS, some of the designs in their catalog are very creative and useful as well. I have to ignore all the mall-ninja tripe, but they do make some very practical designs.

thx - cpr

The picture of Jared Allens using a cold steel javelin to take an elk was pretty cool.
