Howdy folks.

I recently got back my 0450 from warranty.
Some of you may remember that thread.

Well, the one they sent back is great.
Good turnaround time, good CS, etc etc..

And I like it more too.
A lot more. Its very unlike me to even THINK about safe-queens. I'm right there with "BluesBender" in the sense of using expensive knives.
Seeing scratches on a pocket-clip and a worn blade is beautiful.
But I worry about the bearings in this guy.
I've heard that they're not stainless and could rust.
In my line of work, if I were to use it, it would get VERY dirty. And not being able to clean it in the sink (bearing rust) is a hinder.
I don't want to ruin the smoothness of it.

So...
Anyone here EDC a bearing folder? How's it holding up?

I've carried ball bearing pivot knives in humid-as-[****] Oklahoma for months day after day without issue. Just keep it mildly lubricated and you'll be fine. It'll only rust if you don't use it!

Couldn't you just clean or swap out the bearings if needed?

Wonder if someone does some ceramic upgrade, lol that would be kinda cool.

Honestly, I wouldn't overthink it. I've carried a bunch of bearing systems and if they get "gritty" I just run to my truck and blast the pivot with WD-40; and that has probably happened to me only one or twice:)

As far as corrosion, put a couple drops of Tuf-Glide in there once or twice a month and you'll be fine...unless you like to scuba dive with your knives:D:thumbup:

FWIW, I still prefer a well-made pivot with washers though

I have taken apart a ton of ZT knives for anodizing and not seen a single rusted up bearing. Some of the knives look like they have been to hell and back but the bearings always seem fine. I would not worry about it, just keep a little oil on it and it should be fine.

Yup! I've gotten them absolutely filthy.....little blast of Ballistol and some air and they're fine.
