Durability of SAK's?

If you want functionality like a SAK, but more durability, get a multi-tool. You can get all locking tools (a very important factor, which is sorely lacking in SAKs), and much sturdier construction. They may not be as "traditional," but they are substantially more functional.

Yet most multitools do not have a magnifier, fish scaler, straight pin, hook disgorger, toothpick, tweezers, corkscrew, nail file with nail cleaner, parcel hook, ball point pen, and eyeglass screwdriver. Some multitools will have a couple of these, but none will have even half of them.

My Swisschamp has the whole lot. :D

I consider multitools to be good portable toolboxes. I think of a SAK as an aid to living my life. A gateway to adventure. The means by which all of the little "dad things" are done for my daughter.

I have a SAK that I have had for MORE than 20 years. Whomever said that you are more likely to loose it than break one, is correct.

a SAK is the only knife i will trust and use right out of the box the second i get it into my hand. I have a sak from 8 or so years ago still going strong. I trust the blades and they're easy to sharpen. They give you a lot of knife in a little package and i'm a weary knife buyer. SAKs will always have a place in my collection. The SWISS ARMY uses it!

I always keep an Alox Farmer in my bag wherever I go and it has been so useful on countless occasions! Considering they don't cost much they certainly don't feel cheap as they are made and above all, designed with a lot of care. You NEED one!
