Is it possible to restore the mirror polish finish on knives with duralumin bolsters, buttcaps, etc.
Many knives such as Buck, Randall, cold steel espada, etc. have duralumin with a mirror finish when new but will soon develop a Matt finish of tiny scratches. Does anyone know of a reliable way to restore the mirror polish?

Some Flitz or 2000 grit sandpaper might help, but probably won't restore the stock finish. Aluminum is a soft metal, so the scratches will accumulate very easily.

Buff with green compound at 1750 RPM. Use WD 40 on the buffing wheel to prevent "tearing" of the aluminum surface.
