  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

That's a heck of a nice-looking tool,great job....

Thank you Jake. I've used it a little on Cherry and Birch here and it seems to do a lot of the work itself. I can't take credit for the overall form of the handle because it came to me on another axe. My fitting, sure but someone else's handiwork to get it that "taller rather than wider" shape.
I left a longer taper farther up the shoulders on the sides to seat my first finger and thumb for pinch gripping it when choked-up.

There was an existing crosswedge in the tongue. Knocking the handle on and off, trimming, kerfing, and then driving the main wedge in didn’t knock it loose at all. I just left it as opposed to removing it and attempting to fix what wasn’t broken. After the first four times on and off the handle for fitting it was solid/tight enough to conservatively use without a wedge.

I was fortunate this morning and found a couple of hours of quiet to work a Cherry wedge into it.

That looks real good now! I'd love to swing that beauty.
