DVD project moving forward

Went down to the Home Depot to check out stuff...

How big should the depression be on the pounding stump? Should it be the same size and depth as the boss you're trying to make?

For planishing I saw some large carraige bolts that could probably be stuck into a piece of wood.

What kind of place would sell sheet steel? I couldn't find any at Safeway. :( Although the cookie sheet might be a good practice piece.

Bruise a steel yard is a good source for sheet metal, and all your other metal needs. Though any place that does ducting could probably give you a lead. I do know that some Menards, and Home Depot type stores have limited selections of metals. Worse comes to worse, you could always look at flashing, though mostly in aluminum, it may not be too useful.

Bruise if a man can make a guard for a knife out of an old Dodge Pickup door hinge just imagine what you could do with an old Dodge Pickup fender.
Now there's a piece of sheet metal! :p ;) :D The salvage would probably cut it the way you want it for a small fee, if they have an old beat up fender, they're doubtfully gonna cut up one they can sell.

No really, if you can't find a suitable piece of sheet metal anywhere else that would be an option. Another one would be to try and find a cheap Chinese hand hammered wok although it may be a little thin.
I bought two of them a long while back because they were so cheap, one for inside and one for use on the coals on the grill.;)
There are some nice heavy cookie sheets but unless you could find on a bakery was gonna throw out the price would be out of line for the purpose methinks.
And it might not be completely kosher but some of the hub covers for mag wheels might be a suitable substitute as well, but that's really thinking outside the box. :p :D ;)
