Dylan Fletcher knife broke under questionable use.

Batonned the handle? youch. poor thing. I cringe about that practice even when done normally on the right kind of knife, much less smacking the handle.

Hey brother. Poop happens. I've made a thousand knives and a better knifemaker than myself once said, "one day a customer's knife is going to break. Don't let it get you down. If you make enough of them, eventually one is going to snap." What that means is that people USE my knives. That's what I want. The good news is that I pride myself on having the best guarantee possible, "you break, I fix or replace it, period." In all the knives I've made, I've had two failures including this one. The other was a handle coming apart while someone batonned the handle. Pretty good track record.:)

I've got your email and will have you a new knife on the way in no time. I'll also shoot you a reply in just a sec with my address. Do me a favor and ship that sucker back to me so I can look at the grain under a microscope and see what's going on. Chances are that it was just a freak thing that happened in that particular blade. I'll shoot you a paypal for the shipping. Thanks bud.

WOW!! Talk about customer service! Fletcher is one of the many people that give knife-makers a good name.

Dylan. Dont worry about the shipping. It will be sent to you this week. My daughter has a tonsilectomy tomorrow. So probably Friday. Thanks again.

People do crazy things. Honestly, I just rather see pictures all over the web of people using my knives to death than see them up for sale on the secondhand market in perfect, unused, unsharpened condition.

No rush at all bro. Just take care of that girl and get her some icecream!

Thanks jackdaddy. All we have as craftsmen and businessmen is our reputations for products made to the best of our abilities and for the best customer service we can provide.

No truer words

I know I'm a newb, but that response from Mr. Fletcher makes me see one classy craftsman. I see my knives as art, and I use 'em too! I'll be checking out his blades soon. Well, Now. I love knife people:thumbup:

What steel is that ? I would have to agree that there was an existing crack [dark area] .But as there is no red rust perhaps it hasn't been there all that long . How sharp is that spine to side area ? If that gets dinged it's a good starter point fo failure .

Wow! This is an amazing thread. Not only have I just been treated to a valuable lesson in metallurgy, but also to an example of the epitomy(epitome??) in customer service.

WOW!

Dylan Fletcher...... Thank you!

Wow, great knifemaker, great customer service, and a great shooter too. I was pulling for you to win Top Shot. Hope they pull you back for All Stars, if/when that happens.
