1996 VFR16 Pit Bike
Feels and rides like a brand new bike. Everything is tight with no play anywhere, no parts making funny noises, no loose chain or loose bearings etc. Always stored indoors. Very solid bike with minimal rust in the usual spots. Excellent condition for a 25 year old vintage bike.
The bars, stem, layback seat post and custom gearing makes this bike rideable by an adult. I'm 5'8 and I've been riding these 16 inch pit bikes to run errands around town for several years.
The gearing on this bike is the same gear ratio used by BMX racers on 20 inch bikes. The ideal BMX gear ratio is 55 which is achieved using a 44t chainring with 16t sprocket on 20 inch wheels.
On a 20 inch BMX The calculation is (44 / 16) x 20 = 55
This bike has a 33t chainring with 9t sprocket on 15 (the actual diameter of a 16 inch wheel) inch wheels.
Calculation is (33 / 9) x 15 = 55
The gear ratio is what makes this bike fun and comfortable to cruise around on.
