e-cigarettes?

Just ordered a set of Janty eGo, and I'll be getting them tomorrow. A friend lent me one for a few days before I ordered and I really liked it. I've been going on and off with cigarettes and for the time that I used his I found that this could really be the one to help me.
We tried a couple of the china made ones and some were really bad. So please be careful in choosing the right product.

Thanks for this thread redplague & the info kingsqueak.
My work has started a no smoking between breaks policy.
I bought a disposable ecig at the local smoke shop,it did the job,
but tasted like crap & who knows whats in them right. :barf:
I have a Revolver starter pack now & love it.(Elite PG)
I've found (for me)the high nicotine carts (tobaco red)
aren't as strong tasting as the Marlbobo lights/gold that I smoke,
so they are less harsh on my throat, but still provide the "fix".
I'm goin to try some flavored liquids next.
I didn't get my ecig to quit analogs, but I'm thinking why not now.
I've been smoking for close to 40 years,so I'll see if I can get off these "evil" analogs. :)

Now that I found ecigs the county I live in has also banned them wherever analogs aren't allowed!!??:mad:DAMFs.

Again,thanks for the info guys.

Glad it's sorting out for you.

I just hit my six month mark a few days ago. Very glad I found out about vaping.

I have asthma from allergies and it's made a huuuuge difference since quitting. Shovelling out of all the snow we got also showed me how much of an improvement it's made.

Biggest mistake most make is using too light a nicotine level when they first try it. I generally tell people to go with a mix including 36mg and dropping only if they find it too strong.

I've never really found any juice that really tastes like a cig, so I just quit trying. I generally make my own and just make it plain peppermint or plain menthol, just something more or less simple tasting.

The mix I use now for a 30ml bottle is

6ml of vegetable glycerin (VG) 36mg juice
24ml of Proypylene Glycol (PG) 36mg juice
.5ml of LorAnn Peppermint Oil flavoring

I get the juice from bluemistvaping.com generally.

More good info,thanks.
I'll be checking out bluemist once I've used up my revolver liqiuds.(2 10ml bottles)
You can mix the VG & PG no prob huh, just keep everything cleaned out?

I have plenty of experience with drugs and alcohol so it surprises me that i gotta ask: What's "dip" ?
likely i'll wanna try it, eh.

I can add my experience with ecigs. I was a full time, dedicated cigarette smoker. A pack a day of Marlboro Reds, for 16 years, and I loved every god damn one of those cigarettes. I never tried to quit, and I laughed at those smokers who tried to quit every other month, and those who pretended to think smoking was bad or whatever. I put my cigarettes out on "no smoking" signs, and deliberately blew smoke in the faces of people who fake coughed at smokers.

Anyway, so as a smoker who loves smoking, and had no desire to quit, I originally read about ecigs from a thread on AR15.com. They looked interesting so I did some research and decided to try them, so, possibly, I could smoke those too. I got a starter kit, came up with an EDC ecig management system (which is easy enough to do), and started vaping. I kept a pack of real cigarettes and a lighter in my pocket the whole time, so I could always smoke if I wanted to (this was important to me). From the first day, I just smoked the ecig, and stopped smoking cigarettes (which you don't have to do, I just did it to try it). I had no problem not smoking cigarettes, and just smoking the ecig. Got my nic fix, got my oral/manual fixation handled, got my behavioral addiction sated.

Some things I liked about it were that I could do it indoors wherever I was: movie theaters, grocery stores, non-smoking people's houses, etc. Not only did no one mind, but if I cupped it in my hand, no one even knew. No smell of cigarettes. No more having to go outside in the cold or the rain. I could just take a hit or two, and then put my "cigarette" down on my desk or into my pocket, and neither be committed to smoking an entire cigarette, nor have to waste any. Great party trick if you hang out with other smokers (they're all very curious). Substantially cheaper than cigarettes.

After about 3 months, though, I kinda got tired of it and just put it down, and didn't pick it up again. I gave it to my brother in law, who promptly broke it. But that $100 starter kit (including 30ml of juice) would have lasted me about 6 months. I got the 12ml juice, because I didn't want it to be so strong that I couldn't smoke all the time..

That was over a year ago. I'll still smoke a cigarette when I hang out with a smoker, which is probably once a month. Other than that I'm smoke free and don't mind it a bit.

Oh, and I didn't see anyone above link the forum: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

I recommend giving it a try, even if it's only to get something additional to smoke.

Yup, I actually got cheap grade lab equipment off amazon to do my measuring with so I'd have about a 1ml or so resolution in accuracy. Graduated cylinders, pipettes, a few things you can use. I use 3ml syringes to measure out flavor concentrates so I have better control.

Bluemist has nice plastic dropper bottles that I just wash and re-use.

One last tip, just get PG and VG ready mixed at the nic level you use. Much stronger than 48mg starts to get toxic enough that it bothers me to have it around. People sell 100mg and higher, but if you do that, you really should immediately dillute it down in large batches to get rid of the concentrate.

Keep out of reach of children and small pets, even 36mg is not something anyone would want to ingest in any concentration.

Store it in a closet or other dark space too, nicotine is light reactive.

American slang for a US style of tobacco snuff. It's long cut and cured differently than 'traditional' snuffs so it's generally in a tin, wet, and fairly long cut compared to what EU would think is snuff.

Skoal, Copenhagen and many others are common US brands for it.

You generally pinch up a wad of it and put it in your lower lip between your teeth and your cheek.

You generally have to spit constantly while using it....swallowing the juice will make you sick.

Snus, is a Scandinavian cured snuff that looks in appearance a bit like US snuff, but it's much safer due to the curing (steaming) process and you actuallly just swallow the juice so it's a lot cleaner. Of the two, I prefer that and tend to use that for flights or other long term places where I can't vape for hours.

I bought one and for me it was a complete waste of money. It drew so light (with the strongest cartridge) that I could barely feel it in my throat. I gave the whole set away to a friend who wanted to try it. Last I heard she had passed in on to someone else because she didn't like it. If you are looking for something close to a cigarette you might be disappointed in it. I know I was.

There are many types which makes it a bit tricky. The feel of the hit from it varies based on a few things.

The voltage itself

The battery capacity to provide the current draw

The atomizer or cartomizer you are using.

The mix of the juice you use.

The level of nicotine in the juice.

There isn't one right answer to all of these either as you have to find combinations that provide what you are looking for. I like high nicotine, high vapor volume, but mild 'throat hit' meaning that it isn't hot or harsh feeling. Some people don't mind lower vapor level but prefer a hotter/harsher 'hit' in the throat.

Also there are some pretty wide quality differences in units that 'look the same' and wide variances in quality vs price. You can spend over $100 for a unit that is identical to another vendor's $30 unit and they have identical quality...sometimes are the exact same unit with a different label on them.

The trick is to read the forums and the reviews. Also youtube is loaded with videos of people actually using different units. GrimmGreen is a great guy for reviews on a huge variety of mods. He's the 'nutnfancy' of vaping in many ways (the positive ways)

My current configuration is

altsmoke.com "Silver Bullet"

Uses a single 18650 3.7V battery, I use 2950 mAh rated Redilast batteries in mine.

I use http://www.avidvaper.com "LR306" atomizers with a drip tip.

This vendor designed these specific LR306 for production. They use a higher grade and heavier thickness of nichrome wire in them. The LR means 'low resistance' and means fast rise to temperature and high output for a lower voltage source.

This combination gives me about two full days of vaping without a re-charge though I prefer to rotate a fresh battery each morning to keep the current more consistent.

The LR306 gives me a lot of vapor output, a moderate 'hit' or feel.

The Silver Bullet is a bit large and heavy, but it's also thick milled aluminum and you could pretty much drive over it with a truck and it would be fine.

The method I use is called 'direct dripping' meaning the atomizer I inhale from has an open end that I take a dropper bottle and drip three drops of juice in for every 8-10 drags on the unit. This also provides a much more consistently full hit each time vs using a cartomizer or cartridge where they tend to trail off as they are used until they finally completely dry out.

Thanks for the "dip" info. I don't think that term is used in Canada. "Chew" is what most call it around here, but we don't get the wetter "dip" style here.

So you're saying the video's are 40 minutes long? ;)

I keep meaning to ask him to film a vaping assault on a mall food court with a six man formation. He keeps overlooking that.

You know 5.11 Tactical makes pants with a sleeve built right in to hold a vaping mod. :D

Oh, one other tip I forgot to mention.

With bigger battery sized mods, these batts have more power than most realize. You _really_ don't want them shorting out or being fired by accident in your pocket.

With 18650 mods, many of them have raised/exposed switches. It's not an obvious issue when you are looking, but these switches can fire in your pocket and can burn the hell out of you and make a mess. One of the reasons for liking the Silver Bullet aside from the heavy duty construction is the recessed switch.

I carry it in my front pants pocket from time to time and it won't fire nearly as easily with the recessed switch. Generally it sits in a coat inside pocket or in my shirt pocket but not having to be as concerned with it if I stick it in my jeans front pocket is a good thing.

No problem mykel. I've been curious about these things ever since I saw people posting pics of them in the Edc picture thread. Haven't had a chance to try it yet but I'm learning alot from this thread, and as you noticed kingsqueak is wealth of info on the subject .
