E4 FRN assembly problem

I was taking apart my Endura4 FG for cleaning today but ran into a bit of a snag trying to reassemble it. The problem is that the second steel liner won't fit into place because the FRN piece where the tension bar is inserted is deforming. This FRN piece has a narrow section where a small piece of it goes into the first an second steel liners. This specific part is being eroded away on the liner because of the strain put on it by the tension bar. Pictures below:

Would such a problem be covered under Spyderco's Warranty, and should I send in the usual $5 for shipping or the $20 for repair? I only had this knife for about half a year so I'm hoping this will be an easy fix. Thanks.

There are a number of threads on this subject here and on the Spyderco factory forum. Don't put the spring under load until the spacer is sandwiched in place. Leave either the lockbar or the blade out until the handle is fully assembled. The marks you see on the "pins" on the spacer are a result of the part being flexed out of place by spring tension and then the liner being mashed into place by force. The good news is, I believe they sell repair kits now so you can fix it yourself.

I've actually had a very similar problem with my waved E4 as of recently. Can you provide a link to the repair kit sold by spyderco? I've been unable to locate it on their website.

I also can't find the repair kit anywhere and I'm not sure if this is something customer service will be willing to fix. Anyway, it seems to me my Endura will be out of commission for quite a while until I can find some sort of fix. In the meanwhile though, this gives me a great excuse for the D2 Military I just ordered from New Graham.

Here's a thread with a couple of different assembly methods described. As has been mentioned, it basically it comes down to leaving either the blade or the lock bar for the last piece to be re-assembled.

I remember a post a while back about the repair kits but I haven't found it yet. I'll post it if/when I find it. I think it might be something you just have to call to order, but you may be able to find one on ebay if you haven't looked there yet.

Contact the SFO at: 800-828-1925. No one on that thread was sure if they had a similar parts kit for the Endura, but I'd be willing to bet that they do. The OP on that thread lives in Ohio and said he ordered the kit and had it sent to him, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting one if they do make it. I personally wouldn't send in the knife if I could get the parts kit, but it depends on weather you feel comfortable putting the knife back together now.
