Eagle Scout Buck 500

That is a beautiful knife and congratulations to your Wife.

I'm confused, I thought pockets knives weren't allowed in N.Y.? Didn't they ban all pockets knives?

Vince,

As usual, thank you for great information that many of us without children would not have otherwise known.

Scouting is a great program and I am very proud of Buck for supporting it.

What Vince didn't tell you is, that Buck does this as a gift to scout. They believe in the values of the program and support it out of there own pocketbook......

I never got one because that knife was not produced back then....ha Maybe they would make me a chipped flint one.......

Congratulations to Ryan and Kudos to your wife.

My son also received his Eagle, and I ordered up the knife for him on Friday. The cost was $42 including shipping + tax. What a great value. Thank you Buck for making this available.

No that is not correct. There are restrictions on what can be carried in the N.Y.C. limits, but there is no "ban" on pocket knives in N.Y.

If there is,I'm in trouble :o

Thanks All,again, for all the great comments! Info on obtaining this for an Eagle Scout, can be searched out in the Buck Knives sub forum on BF's

Congrats, Vince. Now he can work on those palms.

Thanks Wayne, he has one bronze palm and one silver palm. He is now registered as an assistant scoutmaster as he is 18.

Vince:)

Congrats to your son, your wife and you. It is definitely a family project and an accomplishment for any young man. My son was approved for Eagle in January and I am doing the same kind of thing you are with a knife.

All the best from Troop 36, Dahlonega, GA.

Great! Congratulations Thunder47 to your son and your family. It takes a lot of hard work.

Vince :)

Congratulations Fishstalker on your son's accomplishment!

Thank you all for your contributions to this thread. Like Ken Erickson said, this is good stuff going on.

Congrats to the three of you, because it takes a lot of effort from the parents to get a boy there, as I'm sure my parents will attest. A fine looking Buck, too. I'm sure he will be proud of that for many years to come.

Fishstalker,

I am sorry for my incorrect information above. It was a couple of years ago when I was involved with this and I guess things have changed and they had to start charging for the knife. Still it is a great memento that will fondled and shown even years down the road, when the uniforms and badges are packed away in a dusty corner.

It is a very good price for the knife & extra service.I'm most sure, some of it,is on the "house". I had Buck knives a boy,and as I got older & still do.
Most small game I was taught to field dress, was with Buck slipjoints.I think in the U.S.A. , Buck knives,or the term,a "Buck" knife,is probably most recognized of all brands, and it's suiting that they are the one's to offer this program.

Congrats all the way around, Vince. You have every right to be proud of your son and wife. You ain't too bad either, I reckon. :D

Vince,

Congrats all the way around...that's quite an accomplishment.

I was informed by my wife today, that as of yesterday, all 4 boys that are to be in this ceremony in two weeks, now have posession of the ordered knives.

All of the parents were really impressed with the quality of the knives & service, commenting on how beautiful they were. These knives made quite an impression & really was a great finishing touch to the whole experience.
Kudos to the Buck Knife Co. , for this program & the quality & service of thier company
My personal Thanks from Troop 6,Southold , N.Y.

Congrats all around. :) Eagle's one hell of an accomplishment, and one I'm proud to this day to claim.

"Only" 36 badges for me- got what I wanted, spent the last 2 years having a blast.

hmmm. I just found out about this Buck program as I was looking for a first knife for my son (as he approaches cub scout bear rank, the first time there is a knife usage requirement.) I wonder if Buck will let me order one for myself. My board of review was in June 1998 though ...

How about this,

If you would like to discuss this with folks that may be more up to date on this try the Buck forum. But, let me suggest that you go to the Buck website and call the customer service number, the lady you will talk to will know what you are talking about and be able to help you.

To encourage you I talked to someone over on that forum who was cruising past 50 an ordered himself one.

I won't mess ( lock) with this old thread but if anyone else is interested I suggest the same for you . 300Bucks
