Eagles in the Rat Pack

January 20, 2000 (Age 14)

I did OA and got a bronze palm in the next few months, stuck around for another couple years passing some of the knowledge I'd picked up along. Had alot of fun in those few years. I was just tinkering with my SAK i carried at the 97 National Jamboree today.

I had just gone from Star to Life Scout, then traded them in for BDU's and a single chevron on my collar :D

My user ID says it all, Eagle with Bronze palm and OA ordeal member
Scouting is an outstanding program

Never made it to Eagle, unfortunately. Only got as far as Life, haha. I think around that age I was sidetracked by the allure of girls. Camping with a bunch of dudes didn't appeal to me after that.

Never made it to Eagle. I do wish I had stuck it out. However, I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference.

I was a Life Scout with about 4-5 months left till becoming an Eagle Scout. When most of the guys lost intrest, left the Scouts, and our group fizzled out. I'm still pretty proud to of made it to Life Scout though.

The Marine Corps gives you an automatic promotion to E-2 if you enlist and you are an Eagle Scout.
Semper Fi!

they give you an automatic "one up" not just a single promotion, if you had "some" college thats one up, and eagle one more up. I think they are aditive, and it sin't just the Corps that does it, all uniformed services do. I'm pretty sure thats accurate I joined as an E-3 for some reason, and can't figure it any way other than that.

Just made First Class before I dropped out - working part time and workin' on cars seemed more important at the time. I was wrong - regret it to this day.

Regards,

I dont remember what ranking i made it to...I never really cared about the ranking. (Not that I begrudge someone for caring) I just never cared about the titles. Both of my parents were our scout troup leaders and had my brother and I in it for a long while.
I remember events and awards but aside from that just a ton of fun with my family and friends.

I was a Boy Scout for exactly one day.
I was maybe 10-11 yrs old, and I must've had it in my head that on Day One they would drop me in the woods with a knife and a match and have me stalk and kill wild boars. Instead, it was arts-and-crafts-project day, and we made little mock wishing-wells out of baby food jars and popsicle sticks. I never went back. lol

I was in cub scouts but was asked to get out after fighting with the troop leaders son.

I was in Boy Scouts mainly for fun. Yes, it's always fun but I cheated myself by not trying harder to learn and advance rank. I regret it still today and I'm knocking on 40's door. I believe I made it to First Class if I remember right.

That being said, my 9 yr old is a Bear i Cub Scouts and having a blast. They're trying to talk me into Asst Den Leader. I may do it but I think my wife is afraid it'll "consume" me.

Scouting is a GREAT thing. I like it because it's Christian based, not governmental based. That's my opinion.
