Saw steel, wrought iron and elk, Blade measures 9 inches and knife is 14 inches over all. I still need to finish a period sheath for it but for now I just wanted to post a pic of the knife.

The book "THE BOWIE KNIFE" by Norm Flayderman is a valuable resource for those interested in old knife patterns. I look through it often, in this case I combined features of a couple of pre-bowie period knives and this is what happened.
 
Finally finished this yesterday. It came out with the aged and slightly used appearance that I was hoping for

8/9oz leather sheath with antiqued brass tip and throat with a brass ball frog button.
