Hi All,
I'm hoping someone out there can help with more info and also with a current valuation of a Spyderco Civilian that I have.

I bought it brand new, when Civilians first came out, from the Cutlery Shoppe. This Civvie has the GIN1 steel, the aluminum handles with the kraton (?) inserts, serrated edge and the black padded zippered case.

What really sets this one apart from the rest is that this Civilian does NOT have the tuffram coating. I believe the first batch of Civilians did not have the tuffram coating. Is this true?

Is there anyone out there who can tell me more about the early Civilians and what the current value would be for this early model?

Thanks!
Mike

If it's NIB box maybe about 20 bucks more than it was orignally, What I did not like about them ws the kraton insert on the clip you about had to cut them off your pocket to get it out but was hard to lose I guess. I did like the handles better than any other model. I had one and sold it about a year ago.

NGK,
Thanks for the reply.

It is new. But, there was no box. It came instead in a padded, zippered black vinyl case (has a soft cloth padded lining) with the Spyderco spyder in silver on the outside of the case.
I believe the purchase price was ~$125 at the time. Are you saying that it would only be worth about $145 now???

Well, if that's so, then I guess it'll stay in the collection for a while longer...

Thanks again,
Mike
