That is good news. Hope he comes through.

Wow. I should get an AMEX card.

They have saved me more than once in different situations. Make no mistake, you cannot be unreasonable in your demands nor can you embellish of make up circumstances to coerce AMEX to drop the hammer. You have to make sure that you have followed the required protocols to give a seller or service provider the opportunity to satisfy the situation, but if they don't hold up their end of the deal AMEX will "make it right".

I started using AMEX to buy tools (even when I had a credit account at a vendor) about 30 years ago when I found that the tool purchased with their card was protected by AMEX. A manufacturer can go out of business, no longer offer a certain model of a tool, run out of parts for repair, face a back log of some sort, or just be obstinate about standing behind their warranty. AMEX will help remedy those problems.

all, just an update on this, i received my refund today. now just to get the knife back to him safely.

on a side note, am i out of my mind for still wanting a gareth bull knife? while this experience was less than ideal, i am still a fan of the knives when well done...

Good for you! Glad you were taken care of!

On the other hand, "why would you want another knife from them"...

I am reminded of the old saw: "Hey... why do you keep hitting yourself in the head with a hammer?"

Answer: "Because it feels so good when I stop!"

Once bitten, twice shy.

Glad that you get the money back.

I understand the craving.
I had wanted one myself despite his bad reputation for customer support.
It was because of his designing and presumably good craftsmanship.
But, the latter is now in question, based on your experience.

So, for me, he is goner.

If you are interested in front flippers, I suggest you take a look at MacWasil knives.

return. defective geometry. bending or pushing lock bar inward is a temp fix, wont fix defective geometry.
This is what I would do. I would probably request a refund. That a custom maker would send out a knife like that tells me something. Too many other good choices.
