Early Lockups?

Hey everyone, what's up with the insanely early lockups some framelocks have (eg Medfords)? What is the deal with that? Would it be much less secure and easier to slip as the tang is just supported by the lip of the lock bar?

I have owned and used Medfords (and a lot of custom frame locks that fall into the really early category)

I never found an issue with the lock up on an MKT. Issues happen when you have a bad design, not an "early or late" lock up.
Being "early or late" is not an issue in itself....

While I have never had a problem with very early lockups, I have heard a few reports. As long as it is solid, it is fine with me. I have the range from early to late without problems. If given the choice 40-60% would be the sweet spot for me.
