Early ZT 0551 Question

Well, this confirms it. Every BF thread about the ZT 0551 is destined to turn into a train wreck...

Thomas, thanks for popping in here. I swear you have the patience of a saint sometimes.

And to the OP, I'd definitely pick up the knife if it at all interests you. If you have any concerns at all about the liners rusting (which you shouldn't, really, but...), then get in touch with Kershaw/ZT and get the liner replaced. It's as simple as that.

Everyone else, there's really no point in going on and on about the issue. It happened, it's been/being dealt with. You can fix the problem yourself or send it in and have them fix it for you. There's no point in rehashing everything for the umpteenth time.

Now I am wondering where my other liner is...

Honestly, I think I could toss out the liner without impacting the 0551's performance.

Thanks for popping in Thomas. You cats make a hell of a knife.

It's a great user and it would be a shame to worry too much about how they'll be sold on a secondary market.

Hey, I just felt compelled to comment here and say that this 0551 is my first frame locking folding knife. I loved the look of it and the specs, so I bought it without really knowing much more than that.

I ended up getting an early model, specifically #0142, and I'll admit I was nervous about the "rust issues" I was reading about. so I took her apart... and low and behold no rust! Damn thing looks perfect, save for some pocket lint. Locks up great and feels even better in the hand.

I just wanted to tell my side and say that maybe this rust issue is getting way blown out of proportion? And it seems there is a heavy dose of misinformation going on... I wouldn't be worried about the rust issue if I was you, late or early model. I don't know, but count me as a happy customer who's got a perfect, early model 0551.
