Earthquake Hits Shop!!! . . . . Can't Find Garth!!!

6850, I know how you feel; my truck is an 01' Ram 1500 which just turned 90,000 miles. Still runs good, but the plastic dash has split in several places.

So I got rid of my 2012 rubicon because after going to 35 inch tires from the factory 32's, I lost felt power, a lot of power at the elevation I live in, which is totally unacceptable to me. I could have gone with a supercharger to help out, but did not want to create reliability issues that would come with it. Instead in 2016 I picked up a new F350 lariat FX. I wanted one before they went to the aluminum bed for 2017. This thing came with 35 inch tires from the factory and they look small. With 880 ft-lbs of torque I need not worry about power ever again.

It's crazy how the OEM's are dropping sedans and it's all SUV's and big horsepower. Mark my words, this is all going to come back and bite them in the ass. Wifey has been doing some shopping and it's kind of dramatic which way the makers are trending and I don't think it's a good thing. Once we get one of these left wing socialists back in office *and it will happen at some point* we're going right back to $4 or more for a gallon gas and SHTF with a industry who's ill prepared.
That's the thing when you start to reach a certain age you begin to see how cycles repeat themselves but the youngin's don't know any better, they think the worlds they live in will always be the world they live in. The older I get the more I understand why my elders rode my ass so much, they knew a lot of stuff I wouldn't understand for decades.

Jeep's supposed to be coming out with a plug-in hybrid Wrangler next year, for whatever that's worth.

And I gotta wonder. My mother-in-law drove her hybrid Lexus "SUV" through a puddle and wound up with a brick. Something funked up with the electrics, and many thousands of dollars to repair. And since she lives in Houston, a little high water now and then is not all that uncommon. No more hybrids for her. Can you believe an "SUV" that can't handle moderately deep puddle? Jeep wouldn't do that to us, would they?

I just rented a jeep wrangler sahara 4dr with 4cyl turbo and electric motor, hybrid. The electric motor adds 71 ft-lbs of torque to the 290 ft-lbs of the 4cyl turbo. The thing is very quick. Much quicker than my rubicon 3.6 cyl V6. While I would not get an electric, this hybridized version is nice. I still prefer a V8, however. Hoping for a 392 hemi Rubicon.

Since 'what's his name' is no longer here, I have to ask, what about your GT3?

Great minds think alike. My truck is the exact same thing other than color and I have full length running boards instead of steps.
Garth

Is it an aftermarket running board or the factory one. I put these on to give the truck a better look, but wife does not like these steps.

About 15 years ago, I went to an event in Ocala, FL called Jeeptoberfest. There was an 18 or 19 year old girl who had put a 302 in a wrangler! They had a rock course set up (a long U-shaped ditch with huge rocks laid in it on account of Florida being completely flat) and a lot of good drivers got stuck and had to use their winches. She was probably one of the worst drivers to run the course but she was able to muscle through because of that 302 and completed it. That was when I realized that power could do a lot more than just provide speed and acceleration.

And it is actually torque that really helps. Which is why a turbo diesel in a jeep would be awesome as well. The rubicon is certainly the most capable factory off road vehicle, sorry toyota, not even close. An engine with more torque would just complete it.

Yep. I didn't really understand that concept until that day. She was able to move the entire vehicle with one tire where the stock/modded 6 cylinders needed at least 2 tires firmly planted. She took the worst line on the hardest part and was still able to muscle through. Everybody else that took that line had to hook up the winch.

look at the world famous off road vehicles and almost all of them have high torque engines.
