In my forty two years living in NJ,I've never felt an earthquake until 5min ago.I was sitting at my desk browsing BF & everything started to shake!I thought they were doing road work outside my place,as that's the only time I've felt anything like this.
I have CNN on now & it's confirmed a 5.9 earthquake was registered in Washington DC & was felt as far as NYC.

Did you feel it?Are you OK?Any damage?

I just saw it on the news!
I hope all our forumites are ok........Best wishes from down south.

CNN say it is North West of Richmond Virginia. Are'nt New Graham near there?

I'm in Maryland, it was the strongest I've ever felt and lasted a good 10-15 seconds, to much longer and my fish tank would have probably fall'in over. Crazy, cell phones not working right now either, can't place any calls:confused:

Here in Roanoke, VA it shook pretty good. When it started I look up form my desk and say this huge crack running past my door. It was one of the guys rushing out of the bathroom with his pants half up.

^LOL BadHammer:D

I just talked to my Mom in Roanoke. She said she didn't feel anything. She's all disappointed.

I'm in Raphine VA. I didn't feel a thing.

Our business is on a concrete slab and I felt it through the soles of my shoes and my desk was shaking. I bet a house with a basement wouldn't tranmit the shake as much as a slab.

I'm in Hershey Pa. at work and my monitors, lamps etc. were shaking pretty good.

I can scratch "Feel an earthquake" off of the bucket list. Guess its going to be possible to have an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week. John hopefully your mom can feel an aftershock ;)

Felt it here in midtown NYC.

I was doing the same thing as JTR :) when I felt the building start to shake. I could see the monitor vibrating , so I knew it wasn't in my head. A few minutes later the building was announcing over the PA that there was an earthquake.

110 miles from the house was the epicenter. origin: mineral, Virginia. my location. Mclean,VA. no damage was really done to be honest. i had one thing fall over in my house. and
thank god it wasn't any knives or gear :D my dog didn't even budge. he was sleeping through it. don't let the news fool you into something crazy. things shook, but nothing serious.

Was the first to feel it in the office, midtown NYC. I must say I'm proud of that :) not to make light of the things people in the epicenters (yes, there were two earthquakes) must be going through

I felt it in eastern PA, was sitting in my car at the dunkin doughnut drive through and my car was moving back and forth and thought my transmission was going bad. Then I watched the car in front of me doing the same thing.

I am in Western Massachusetts and felt it. I thought I something was wrong with me. Earthquakes and tornadoes in New England??? Crazy I say.

My whole family was in the same house, my wife felt it, the rest of us didn't feel a thing. :) Burlington NC

1975 or '76 when I was like about 15 or so when heard a rumble and felt the bed shake, then all the crap I had sittin' on a shelf above my bed fell down and hit me in the head, (I guess that explains a lot about my younger years), turns out that later that night on the local news report they reported an earth quake, in Jersey!!!!!

I don't know why everyone's surprised, the Ramapo fault runs right through NY/NJ and PA, look it up.

LOL! :D
I'm right there with ya...first quake I've ever felt too. I'm halfway between Philly and Lancaster and it was like being on a waterbed for about 10 seconds.

My Mom also lives in Roanoke, near Woodrum Field (airport)...she felt it. Surprised your Mom didn't.

I was driving up the fairway in a golf cart in Frederick County MD and I didn't even feel it. The GPS in the cart was acting up and we called the clubhouse to have them bring us another cart and the kid says, "it might just be the earthquake that just rolled through here". I said EARTHQUAKE??? The only time I've felt a quake was Dec. 03' The Paso Robles quake. I was about 165 miles from the epicenter. It felt like I was standing on a giant cube of Jello. Now we have what could become a powerful hurricane ripping up the east coast. Pretty crazy. Hope everyone is ok nobody had any property damage.
