East coast Earthquake!?

Was in Towson, Maryland at work and it shook our building hard for 5-10 seconds.

Many stress cracks in the stucco covering exterior walls.

No land lines or cell phones for a little while.

I'm over on the Eastern Shore, and though I didn't feel anything, a couple of the guys that were sitting down said they felt the ground shaking back and forth. I also talked to my girlfriend on the coast of NC, and she said people were reporting feeling tremors there as well.

A friend of mine actually lives in Mineral, Va., and he said his house shook pretty good, but that there was no damage.

Update: I just received word from my friend out in Mineral, and he said there have been a couple more tremors, with the last one occurring about 5 minutes or so ago.

North Jersey, shook back and forth a little with a 6" blade in my hand cutting up vegetables for lunch. :p

I was on my motorcycle goin' west on Rt. 46 in Belvidere NJ whe it happened and I didn't feel a thing, in fact I didn't even know it happened till I came home and my wife told me.

I felt it very strongly here in Western Massachusetts -- no damage, but it was the strongest tremor I've ever felt. I was sitting at my computer and looked out the window expecting to see a ferocious wind blowing the trees -- but there wasn't any wind, and I'm on the ground floor.

I guess I wouldn't have noticed it if I had been riding a motorcycle. It would feel like going over a series of bumps; you would forget it a moment later.

We will rebuild!

:D:p

Pretty cool seeing all the roots in Roanoke. I work on an elevated floor so I felt it but wife was home on the couch talking to family just west of the airport and did not feel it. Building structure played a big part in those that did or did not notice it. Cool occurance, I like adversity and excitement...however small.

In my forty two years living in NJ,I've never felt an earthquake until 5min ago.I was sitting at my desk browsing BF & everything started to shake!I thought they were doing road work outside my place,as that's the only time I've felt anything like this.
I have CNN on now & it's confirmed a 5.9 earthquake was registered in Washington DC & was felt as far as NYC.

Did you feel it?Are you OK?Any damage?

It was felt further than that. Apparently it was felt right into south eastern Canada.
