Ok, there have been some new and interesting changes/updates. So, here goes:

Dates: October 22, 23, 24
Location: Citico Creek Campgrounds Site #9 (not confirmed)
Events: Fire building, Survial Shelter, Homemade Gear, Trade Blanket, Overall Survival Skills

Summary: We will be spending a couple of days in the woods goofin' around and having a good time.

What attendees are responsible for: food, water, shelter, party supplies. Wood will be provided on site. You are responsible for yourselves and your gear. Immediate medical attention is approx 1.5hrs to the closest EMERGENCY ROOM. No onsite medical staff will be there, but basic first aid will be. There will be ample water, but it will need to be sanitized and filtered (Citico Creek). If you will be fishing, a valid Tn Hunting/Fishing permit will be required. All rules and regulations of the Cherokee National Forest apply TO ALL

Cool Stuff:

Ok, this is what has evolved. Kabar/Becker will be sponsoring some of the prizes for the contests. Ethan Becker will be making an appearance at the Gathering. All attendees to the Gathering have been invited back to Ethan's Home to "play" with some of his personal blades. We will look at going over to his place on Saturday. We (Ethan more than me) have been looking at possible locations for the next East Tennessee Survivalist Gathering, and some that he found, should allow us to REALLY dig in on some serious SurvivalCraft. Either way, this will be a monumental opportunity for those in attendance.

What I need to do, is get a tentative head count. If you will attend, please post IN THIS THREAD that you will attend, how many people you will be bringing. I am going next weekend to finalize the campsite based on the number of people in attendance. Right now, Camp 9 should be big enough for 20 people, but if more are coming, I will need to get a bigger Campsite.

I will be going up on Thursday, Oct. 21 to secure the campsite, and setup signs for the Gathering. Attendees can show up as early as Friday, Oct 22. anytime in the morning.

These new turn of events are AWESOME!!!! I can't wait until then. Moose

I just confirmed my kitchen pass is in fact good, so barring something come up I am in. I'm going to run it by a couple guys who I know would be interested in taking part in this to see if they're interested. I'll have you a number in a couple days at the latest if that's ok.

No worries, this is going to be very informal, just fun. I just need a head count so that everyone's not staying in a "communal tent", LOL. Moose

Yo moose, I'd like to show up and enjoy bourbon and a campfire :p

But I need directions to this place from Morganton, GA. I googled the camping area but couldnt really find anything.

Try 100 Citico Road, Vonore, TN. This is the beginning of Citico Road, and if you follow it up to site # 9 (there are signs at each site) I will have a sign posted telling you its time to stop and relax. I will have a DEFINITE location that Mapquest, GPS, and the analog version (the map) will work with. Moose

Machine26, You live in Morganton ,Ga., my folks live next door in Blue Ridge. I camp on the Cohutta WMA. lots of cool places to camp.

Moose, outstanding thanks bud. I should be making it, just me in my group.

Tim, I've been wanting to get up to cohutta WMA to try the hog hunting, hear its great. I'm honestly not sure if Ive ever been there, maybe while doing some geocaching. I've got the benton mckaye trail and another WMA literally right down the road from my house and been keeping myself quite busy exploring those.

I'm also interested, but, not as 'local' as some of you guys. Geography always affects the turnout. dawsonbob and I will be there in spirit!

Like I said before...I should be able to run up on Sunday...but I' really not sure yet. Unfortunately Saturday is definitely out of the question due to Lisa's work schedule...which sucks lol.

I might be able to come up on Sunday. I have a new person that started this week that is supposed to be covering Sundays for me, so we'll see if she is ready by then or not.
