eastern maple burl vers western maple burl

ive seen mainly maple burls from the west coast. can anyone show me a photo comparison of an eastern maple burl versus a west maple burl. i know there are different types but i think the burl this guy is tring to sell me is a red maple burl--thanks-marekz
 
I don't remember seeing eastern vs western maple shown. There are two parts to 'maple' , hard and soft.Sugar is a hard type and red is a soft type.Figure is described as fiddleback, tiger,quilted, burl, birdseye and perhaps others.If you are trying to buy some it's best to see it or at least the photos.The variation is great and can't be classified as to type of maple. Some of the very nice figure is found in the extreme NW , big leaf maple which is a soft maple but both hard and soft can be stabilized. If you like it buy it !
