Eastern medicine's amazing "destroyer of sugar"

I use gymnema sylvestre to help with diabetes. It really does work well. I have Type II, and I can control it with diet, exercise and herbs. I mix the Gymnema with Siberian ginseng and ho shu wu (80-10-10 mixture) and make tea with it in the morning. I experimented with up to 8 grams of Gymnema per cup of tea and found that 2 grams was as good as it gets, at least for me.

I quit drinking alcohol 15 months ago. In order to maintain my weight  I developed an ice cream habit.

Problem is, the sugar crash. It knocks me out- asleep- not long after a cup of Carmel Coyote. This never happened in the past... but hit age 40 and all kinds of new things happen, none of them good. No, I don't have diabetes: best bloodwork in my life done recently.

An aurvedic herb was recommended at a vitamin store; Gymnema sylvestre.

Your body is reacting normally to a concentrated input of sugar. It's releasing insulin, which according to your bloodwork is probably working in your system as it should. The insulun in your body helps you to remove the sugar from your blood, but it's still there when the sugar is at the appropriate level and thus the blood sugars continue to decline, making you sleepy.

Instead of looking for a herb to fix the "problem" you could quit eating cr@!.

;)

Oh, I am very pro Vivi's stuff too, but I've got a kid and a job that tests, and a long communte and a mortgage and I just don't have the time and money to find, buy and consume it anymore. LOL.

I think I'd enjoy forgetting where I was going if it were a morning commute. Good excuse to pull off to some woods and really enjoy the morning. :)

Carbohydrates are sugars and starch. They provide energy.Fibre is a type of carbohydrate in plants. Unlike other carbohydrates, it´s not absorbed in the small intestine to provide THAT MUCH energy. At least half the energy in diet should come from starchy carbohydrates......
All food, manmade or "natural" is made of these same molecules. We like to brake down the fibres to make the food taste "better".Braking down fibres makes sugars. The molecular chain of sugar is so short that it is dissolvel so easily by our metabolism, that it provides too much energy compared to the amount of energy it needs to become energy for our muscles.
"
Too much energy in the diet can lead to excess weight gain irrespective of the type of food eaten but, contrary to popular belief, gram for gram carbohydrate provides less energy than fat or alcohol. Fibre-rich foods are often recommended in weight-reducing diets. They contain fewer calories, gram for gram, than foods with a high fat content, and give a feeling of fullness and satiety.";http://www.nutrition.org.uk/

"SUGARS" can be divided into three main groups according to the SIZE of the molecule; Monosaccharides
,Disaccharides and Polysaccharides.
When one gets "fat" she gets too much energy.lol
Try eating 5 colours of "living" food.Asian males are much (10% or more)thinner than any male in the world, yet they still eat more often than "we" do.
