Easy, food safe way to lubricate your Beckers

They are definitely flammable but I couldn't get one to take a spark from a firesteel. I think it would work better if it dried out a little, they come out of the pack soaked. But it lit up real quick from a lighter and was hard to put out.

Thanks for the info! it looks like they can also be had at the department store with the bulls-eye sign on it... ill have to grab some, so i dont have to worry about using tuf-cloth on food prep knives.

Nice!! Gonna pick some up! I love the fact that I can recycle the only dried up ones and use them as kindle!

Well there you go. Multi-use and going in the pack. Thanks for the heads up and checking that out for us.

Great idea, thanks Mauser. Anybody know a place besides Bed Bath n Beyond that carries these mineral oil wipes? I don't know who was president last time I was in a BBY store, lol.

The department store i mentioned above has them

I'm in that bulls eye store a couple times a month. That will be much easier to find, good tip worldwood.

Interesting stuff bsmith. I wonder if its mineral oil based? Looks similar. Nice hookup getting it at work. Hoppes gun lubrication oil is mostly mineral oil.

It's tasteless, odorless, and comes pretty cheap by the gallon. I think it is mineral oil based bro, most everything in our meat room is.

I wonder if those will catch a spark. Try one out and let us know Mauz.

Im sure they would. I like to apply mineral oil with cotton balls and then I just save the cotton balls with oil for tinder. Catch a spark like its no ones business, I suspect the wipes would work just as well.

Edit: disregard this, I see maus tested it out a couple posts above me.

I forgot about this post but i wanted to say thianks for this. i got some of these wipes a while back and they are great. i cleaned and lubed about 10 blades with 1 wipe. good stuff!

Another way to skin this cat is to use Vaseline.......All the Cammillus edges came coated with it......Also multi use and thanks to Average Iowa Guy I ALWAYS have Vaseline on hand and it works great as firestarter.......Nothing wrong with mineral oil it is great stuff....and good gun oil as well.........Just another tool in the box.........

I actually use the old-t-shirt method myself. I make sure there is a small circle of oil on the t-shirt and then pinch the blade and drag it on through.

Nice tip. Probably a bit more sanitary than my mineral-oil-soaked-old-piece-of-t-shirt I use. :D

While getting dragged around Bed Bath and Beyond Boring one day looking for a wedding present I stumbled on something interesting.

Look, we all know you were shopping for new floral drapes. You don't have to hide it. :D
Thanks for the heads up. I will have to look into some of those.

Exactly what I used to do before finding these wipes, that works great too.

I knew it made a great fire starter but have never tried it on steel. Good to know, thank you sir.

HA! Busted. Only place in town that I can find drapes that don't clash with my beard.
