easy multitool Que.

The swisstool blades lock. You can see the release slide for the locking mechanism in the above pics.

They don't open one handed, unfortunately, but that's a small price to pay for higher build quality, IMHO.

I wondered what it was.

Thanks everyone and sorry for the short hijack, I'm off to buy one now.

Does the swisstool spirit sheath have little pockets inside like the wave sheath? VCB

Like almost everybody else in the world I've narrowed it down to a wave and Swiss Tool. The Spirit S has two knife blades, PE and SE, which I like, but no scissors. Is there enough room in a Swisstool spirit sheath for a very small separate pair of scissors? Thanks, VCB

You could by the dual blade Swiss Tool and also get a mini SAK (the flat one) that has the scissors, knife blade, file/screwdriver, and toothpick/tweezers. I have one attached to my car key.

The scissors in the SAK are a little over half the size of my LM Wave, but I like the idea of a standard blade and serrated one and would rather have the serrated than scissors on the Swiss Tool.

This is the leather sheath that came with my Swisstool Spirit

You can see mine has stretched to have a little gap. It was originally fairly snug (but not so snug to make it tight to pull out)

The reason mine has stretched is because I put in...

I've heard from several big Leatherman fans that they like the Swisstool better. I've never had one, but prefer the old style Wave over my new one.

I agree completely I don't like the fact that they changed it. Why mess with perfection. But that being said, I love my Wave and carry it everywhere either on my person or in my bag. I have done everything with this tool. I even once changed out the headlight in my car in a gas station with nothing more then my Wave. It is a constant companion and a great tool. And I have NEVER had any issues with any of my Leatherman Products. Unfortunately it seems that some others have, which is always something to take note of.

Although it is hard to admit I am thinking very seriously about checking out the Swiss tool.

You can get another sheath with 2 pockets for the spirit. The extra one is for the ratchet/tool kit.

They come in nylon and leather.

I had an original Leatherman Super Tool and it was a tank. Loved that the tools locked out, a big inovation back then. While kayak fishing my son caught a fish and I paddled up to him to lend him my Super Tool to unhook the fish and I went back to fishing. I here a "hey" and from about 8 feet a way my son tosses the Super tool back. I watch helplessly and it sails 3 feet over my head and into the murky water. I was pissed.

thanks for the link to the swissknifeshop for the replacement scissors for the swisscard. vcb

Where d'ya get the cork screws from ? How do they attach ?

I am 100% in love with my Swisstool Spirit. I actually like the serrated utility blade. All of my knives are PE at the moment, and I always have one within reach, so it doesnt feel redundant with it. I also love the scissors on the spirit. Now if it had a pocket clip....

If your wanting to add some scissors, Id add a vic classic to the package. I have an Alox classic that has been hangin on my mirror in my car for years, and the scissors are nice.

They come with the "plus" packages, and are available separately from Victorinox, or some retailers (gad zooks on ebay for one). It attaches in the hole that's in the plate that provides resistance against the opening of the tool (close the tool, look near the plier end on the side, above where all the tools are, you'll see it).
