Case Copperlock. Comes in two sizes mini and full. My full size is very easy to open and is so thin it disappears in my pocket.
I think this is a good idea. I've got a very bad right thumb, and have had to sell most all of my slipjoints.
All lockbacks will be easy to open, but its hard to work to lock on a GEC if you have hand problems.
I have a few Case Copperlocks, and have no problem closing them at all.
I just sold a single blade GEC Northfield #85 Easy Open (an SFO) because I couldn't open it without pain.
I also got a GEC #72 lockback this week, and couldn't work the lock without pain. Had to send it back. It had problems, and I would have sent it back even if it did have a smooth lock.
If he has any weakness or pain in his hands I would stay away from GEC all together.
