During my normal parusing of Eprey, I found a Battle Mistress for sale, and saw this as the description.

This is a new Busse Combat Battle Mistress W 9" Blade This is 1 of there Models made with Infi Steel,Hols all records fo strength,Sharpness & durability,No longer availiable because of cost of rare steel This Knfe has canvas macarta handles that have been machine cut ,so you can get sure grip in wet or dry climate,This knife is over 60 rockwel hardness, and will bend 27 degrees and still return to true, and will bend 70 degrees without braking,Test blades were put in vice an 30,000 pds of pressure at hilt without bending,Cold steel knives Bend at about 700 lbs. This knife also come with custom kydex sheath. please email with any questions. These knives are very sout after,by collecters I use to Deal in these Knives years ago this Knife has been put up and never used

Trying to ensure that the description would not potentially lead someone to a wrong conclusion, I sent this:

Good day,
I wonder the source of your statement that the steel cost was the reason for the discontinuance of the Ergo series of Busse Knives.
That is far from accurate, as INFI is still the steel used in all Busse models, and the current Battle Mistress model uses even more steel than the e-hamdeld model you are offering.
I am currently the only authorized Manufacturers Representative for Busse.
I just want to be sure that your potential buyers are correctly informed, and not inadvertantly misinformed.
Thank you,
Mike

Amazingly, this was the response. Seems rather hostile, accusatory, and less than professional.

Thanks for your concern,I will be sure to make sure that my 16 year old pays closer attention to what he writes in the future. He is trying to make ends meet while his dad is in Iraq. And there was a time when Busse stopped using INFI on some of the bigger models because he could not obtain the steel or because of cost. This was told to us by Dave who at the time was doing most of the selling at Busse knives. So if you think the price is to high. This is America ,go somewhere else.
also this knife i am sure is nolonger avaliable what ever the reason,And if you are making the claim that INFI is your proprietary metal, and that no one else uses it,i dont know about you,but to me that is rare. And if all of your sells hinge on what something that is said on ebay ,maybee Busse needs a new authorized rep,to concentrate on sells instead of wasting time correcting a ebay add.And Busse has not always used Infi on all of there blades. And I will make sure all of us in the real world will hear about the petty bull----,

The seller is keith32438zjl

All I was trying to do was ensure that buyers were fully aware, and help the seller out.

Given the response, I personally would not do business with them.

Yes, if he's into lying, he might just be into taking your money and not giving you your product. I'd stay away from a high bid price on that one. Last time I checked it was at 480. Keep it there.

I too was concerned that someone might be mislead by the sellers description and in the hopes that he was just unaware I sent him the following (a bit more confrontational than what Mike sent him, but I had a feeling there was no mistake he knew what he was claiming):

Are you serious? INFI is not rare, it is costly yes but not rare. As it stands your advertising is false and ridiculous. I highly doubt you were ever an authorized Busse dealer. I hope that your errors were not intentional.

To which he responded:

I have customers that seem to think they are rare, and at the end of the day they are the ones that count, not some board computer geek

My final response to him since I knew where this was going:

Well, if you have customers that are so unaware of what they are buying that they would part with $900 for a $500 knife, then more power to you. As for my being a bored computer geek, I will try not to lose sleep over the thrashing you gave me. If you make it to Blade this year stop by the Busse booth, I am sure Jerry would love to re-acquaint himself with one of his old dealers. Maybe he can explain to you the reason the Ergo line was discontinued, rather than the fairy tale you had in your description. Now if you excuse me, I have wasted enough time with you.

His final retort to me:

It makes since now .you must be 1 of those want-a bees,That hangs around their idols wishing they could be somebody 1 day

So buyer beware in my opinion.

As for what the person "using" the sellers ID said to you Mike, I highly doubt it is some 16 year old's mother defending her son. First she says she will admonish him and then she reverts to the similar confrontational and grammatical styles as is evidenced in the messages I received and the description on the item. On a side note, I hate it when people use those fighting in Iraq as part of their excuse for anything.

If the seller is a member of the forums, I wish he/she would step up so I can be sure to add them to my ignore list.

So, if it is the 16 year old son that is selling the knife to make ends meet, that must mean that years ago he was a Busse dealer, since that is what the description on ebay says. I think the seller is full of something.

Sounds to me like a scam, it doesn't sound like english is their native language.

From this it sounds like the mother is the seller... So it's a she? Because the father is in Iraq. Well if this is true then I commend the boy for stepping up to help out while his father serves. But how about just good old common manners. Sheeeeesh.

Or am I way off here?

Wow, the seller even lowered the reserve...on both items...

Interesting everyone who contacts gets the same tone in return.

Well, it didn't sell because his reserve wasn't met, I think he should of taken the $660.00 and ran, that is a pretty high price for a BME!
